Press Release July 21, 2008 Assurant Solutions Celebrates 5th Anniversary of Kingston Operations Centre KINGSTON, Ontario: Assurant Solutions today launched a week of activities for community leaders, clients and employees to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of its Kingston Operations Centre. The Kingston centre, which is located at 1287 Gardiners Road, currently employs about 250. It provides customer service, claims processing and other operations support for the Assurant Solutions creditor insurance and extended service plan businesses in Canada and the United States. Today’s activities begin with a late afternoon reception at the centre. Community leaders and Assurant executives scheduled to attend include Kingston Mayor Harvey Rosen, Member of Parliament Peter Milliken, Jeff Garrah, chief executive of Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO), and Steve Phillips, regional president, Canada and Europe, Assurant Solutions. Keith Demmings, managing director, Assurant Solutions Canada, said the company’s Canadian business has doubled over the past five years. “Our success in adding new clients has been in a large part due to the quality, dedication and culture that we have developed in our Kingston Operations Centre,” he said. “We are proud to have established a strong reputation and community presence and look forward to a bright future in Kingston.” Kathy Burke, vice president, Customer Services, Assurant Solutions Canada, said the anniversary celebration caps what has been a year of special recognition for the centre and its employees. “Our objective from the start was to become an employer of choice in Kingston. We believe that the recognition that we have received from the community and our industry peers shows how successful we have been in achieving that goal.” In June, the Ottawa Regional Contact Centre Association (ORCCA) honored Assurant Solutions with its 2008 Contact Centre of the Year award. The Kingston centre scored top marks in all four categories of best-in-class contact centres – operational performance, employee experience, customer experience and community involvement. Earlier, in December, the United Way serving Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington designated the Assurant Solutions operations centre in Kingston as a “child-friendly organization.” The company was among 12 Kingston area employers so designated in 2007 as part of United Way’s Success By 6 program. Assurant Solutions has been active corporate supporter of United Way for the past five years, and Burke is currently serving as chair of the 2008 campaign. The company also supports Habitat for Humanity of Greater Kingston and Frontenac, and has helped the organization build four homes. The company distributes approximately $60,000 in gifts and grants annually to Kingston area organizations. Other activities planned for this week include a Canadian Idol-like competition for employees and a barbecue dinner for all employees and family members.
